Celebrity Style – Lessons Learned from Lady Gaga

It’s no doubt that in 2009 Lady Gaga sky rocketed to music fame and took fashion to new some skyscraper limits. Sometimes her style is amazingly artistic and other times it’s outright crazy Avant-garde.

I can’t help to be obsessed with her style just because it’s so incredibly different and isn’t always about how much skin she can show. She’s been a walking advertisement for Louboutins, McQueen, and many other designers and has lead the “no pants” revolution.  But what fashion advice can we adhere from Lady Gaga this year?

1. Be Yourself. With all of the celebrity advice we’ve dished out this past year, the one main lesson we can learn from Lady Gaga, is be true to your

personal style. We may gawk at celebrity designer outfits, but don’t let yourself be a total copycat (espeically in Lady Gaga’s case ). Add some personal accessories to your outfit. It could be a family heirloom piece of jewelry, your favorite watch, a different hair style, or maybe its the color lipstick you choose to wear that day. The details of your personality can shine through the accessories you use.

2. Try Something New. Lady Gaga really laid the road for new fashion items. From basically wearing clones of Kermit the Frog, to only soap bubbles, she isnt afraid of going out of the norm. I wouldn’t say you should go running around with frogs as a poncho, but if youre normally one hesitant to try any new fads maybe it wouldn’t hurt to try out a few low priced items. For example, head pieces. From metal hardware headbands like Nicole Richie to embellished feathered headbands this new fascination with head accessories can be a small new indulgence but still have your personality shine through.

3. Start Your Own Trend. Well, you don’t have to be a fashion expert to know that Lady Gaga has started one too many trends this year including leotards as a complete outfit, underwear as outerwear, and face masks as if it’s Halloween. But, don’t think that you cant wear trends from different seasons just because the critics say so. Maybe some of the current trends don’t suit your personality? Perhaps you classify yourself as bohemian chic and would never were a boyfriend jacket in your life. So how can you start your own trend? Make it your own. As Lady Gaga did with leotards, you can do with wide leg pants, platform shoes, or any other trend item that suits you year-round. Don’t let fashion mags and editors rule your closet. Be adventurous and start your own signature look.
