Its been a while since I posted because things its been nuts!!! Its not just the internship that has been crazy, but so has my other used-to-be full-time job and blogging for Oligoville.com, and trying to find an apartment the city for that matter.
On top of that the days keep rolling into another and I found out that I had to work the weekend (which is not a prob) because of the fall look book. I was really excited to be involved because its been at least three years since I had worked a photo shoot and I definitely miss those days.
So after a week at the office of pulling looks for magazine requests and possible TV show appearances, I arrived at the office at 7:30 am. Luckily, no snow today! We prepped the showroom and turned it into a photoshoot studio, and pulled all the pre-determined looks for the book off of the showroom racks. Now, it seems like a simple task, but it really took a while to put all the outfits together (all 60-ish of them). Needless to say that my arms were sore, but then it was time to help dress the models for the shoot.
After the first couple of shots, it was the Creative Director needed accessories to add some flare to the outfits. Since I was the only intern there, I was sent to go scavenging through the building for necklaces, bracelets, shoes, and fur gloves. I wasn’t given much direction as to what I needed to pull, so I nervously pulled whatever I thought looked good. Thankfully, he approved and used all of what I pulled!!!!
It was a day spent entirely on my feet, but had a great time working with everyone. It was interesting to see how the PR and Sales teams both worked together to get the right shots for the book. Right after a model would finish a look, the entire team edited the film right there. The PR and Sales team then determined if the expression and poses of the model were able to “sell” the clothes or not.
It wasn’t just about the model looking pretty, it was how the fabric was captured, how the fabric’s movement was portrayed, and how the different apparel complimented one another. A lot of thought was put into the film editing. After 11 hours at the office, I got to go home and come back and do it on Sunday!
